Dr. J. Randall Newman is a native of Alabama.  He obtained a B.A. in Molecular Biology, graduating with honors from Vanderbilt University.   He attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine where he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine.  While there he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.  During his residency in Internal Medicine at UAB he received the Osler Award for Excellence in Clinical Diagnosis by an Intern.   He completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Newman is Board Certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  His clinical interests include therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP.
